Lastdays, the socially conscious clothing company with operations in Philadelphia and Los Angeles goes green with the release of its 2009 eco-friendly fashion line (www.lastdayswear.com).

“We’ve always wanted to go green with our brand and go beyond the norm,” according to James Freeman, Chief Marketing Officer of Lastdays.  “Due to the high demand of our apparel within the past two years, our customers have shown a real interest in responsibly produced clothing, one that utilizes organic agricultural alternatives and water/soy-based ink to conventional chemicals.”

According to the Sustainable Cotton Project, “a single t-shirt made from one hundred percent organic cotton saves one-third of a pound of synthetic fertilizers and farm chemicals.”
 
Lastdays is governed by its beliefs that there are socially responsible ways to produce its products. Lastdays hopes to encourage the next generation of fashion designers to use organic cotton and creative printing techniques that are less harmful to the environment.
Lastdays customers can now feel good about what they wear knowing that they are making a difference to reduce environmental impacts.

Perhaps within the next five to ten years, most clothing manufacturers within the United States will transition towards sustainable and organic fabric as the demand for responsibly produced clothing grows. Lastdays understands that organic apparel alone will not solve our climate problems as the challenges are enormous. Lastdays has taken the initiative to reduce its carbon foot print as a business involved in the fashion industry; and has gone a step further by donating 1% of sales to environmental organizations to combat climate change around the world. To be able to do this, Lastdays has partnered with One Percent For The Planet to facilitate and hold the company accountable.  Since 2002, One Percent For The Planet has inspired members of the business community to contribute 1% of sales to environmental groups around the world.
